About the Department

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS) is one of the most promising and in-demand programs in today’s software and technology-driven world. Recognized globally as an emerging and thrust area in engineering, it has been included in the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) Model Curriculum for Undergraduate Programs in Emerging Areas.

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at DSEC was established in the academic year 2020–2021 with an initial intake of 60 students. In response to growing demand and increasing popularity, the intake capacity was expanded to 180 students in the academic year 2023–2024.

At DSEC, the B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is offered as a four-year, full-time undergraduate program. The program is designed with the objective of developing students into skilled and intelligent data analysts—professionals who play a crucial role in solving real-world problems through data-driven insights.

The curriculum is carefully structured by a team of experts to align with current industry demands. It places strong emphasis on key domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Data Mining, and Data Modeling. In addition, the program provides intensive training in Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics, ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.

A distinctive feature of this program is its focus on mathematical modeling, which equips students with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Through this integrated approach, students develop critical skills required for AI and Data Science applications.

Upon successful completion of the degree, graduates will possess cross-disciplinary expertise in areas such as Statistics, Computer Science, and Machine Learning.
