OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Master of Computer Applications at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College was founded in the year of 2005. Since its inception, the department has relentlessly strived to enlighten the student community to be adroit and committed in the tasks they are headed with.
One can find a friendly atmosphere that encourages excellence and fosters intellectual growth. To augment their knowledge, we arrange industrial visits, international conferences, national conferences, national seminars, workshops and short intensive courses.

CURRICULUM
The Post Graduate Degree program of MCA comprises of Six semesters. The curriculum concentrates more on application oriented themes, without compromising on the core subjects required. Subjects of recent interests like Wireless Technologies, Software Engineering concepts, Programming Languages, etc. draw the attention of student community. The Department holds eminent staff to prove their mettle, in corroborating the students to reach greater heights.

LAB
The computer labs for MCA are adequately equipped with Processor : Intel Core I3-3220@3GHZ RAM : 2GB Hard Disk : 500 GB Monitor: Lenovo 18.5 Inch. The client systems are 240 in number, with the Same Configuration.
SOFTWARE
The labs have the following licensed software: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, MS-Office 2007, ORACLE 9i, Visual Studio 6.0, SQL Server 2000, J2EE, J2ME, Wireless Kit 2.5.2 for CDLC, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe PageMaker, Flash, .NET, C#, Rational Rose, Turbo C, and C++.
Internet facilities are provided for 24 hours through BSNL Broadband with 16 Mbps speed.
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES - STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS
Most of the staff members are pursuing Ph. D. in various universities of repute. Periodically they attend and actively participate in various conferences and workshops conducted and sponsored by AICTE, ICT Academy, IBM, etc.
LAURELS ACHIEVED BY STUDENTS
I-SPIDERS, is the Students Association of the Department which nurtures them with a sound knowledge of recent trends from adepts, and by following an efficient teaching-learning process. The students have participated in National Workshops, and National Conferences held at various colleges on Soft Computing, Mobile Adhoc Networks, and Computer Security.
INDUSTRIAL VISITS
Industrial Visit is a key program in the curriculum to shore up the real-time experience of the students. It fortifies today’s dreams of the students into tomorrow’s reality. Students have visited software companies at Bangalore, Cochin, Coimbatore and Pondicherry.
